Say Eggplant!

Last weekend I got to spend three days in the "countryside" with over 400 seventh graders. I know, you're jealous. The students were excited to see the "wai jiao" (foreign teachers) outside of class and couldn't seem to take enough pictures:

In America, we say "Cheese!" In China, they say "Qie Zi!" (eggplant), hence the title of this entry.

This guy I nicknamed Paparazzi, as he seemed to follow me for the sole purpose of sticking his camera in my face. I can guarantee that there are now some very unattractive photos of me floating around China.

Can you spot the wai guo ren (foreigner...aka, me)? Look closely, I am there. Haha.

Whether we were walking through one of the two temples dedicated to Yandi, walking on stilts (seriously), cooking by the riverside, or teaching the students the Macarena and the Chicken dance, the weekend was a non-stop photo session.

Say "Qie zi!"

It looks like you had a good time dancing, eating, sight seeing, and expecially the photo shoots....ha-ha. In your "picissa web site" you showed a mahjohg set, and said you played it. Would you believe I have a set and actually taught it for years? When you come home we'll have to teach the family. It's a small world.
